**Abstract:** This thesis explores the electric bicycle (eBike) as an innovative and sustainable solution within the contemporary market trends. The investigation delves into the broader context of sustainable innovations in urban, peri-urban, and outdoor transportation systems related to eBikes. The study employs a comprehensive methodology, examining macro, micro, and external factors concerning this revolutionary mode of transportation. A focal point of the research is the in-depth case study of Bosch eBike Systems, emphasizing its product overview and life cycle analysis. The macroeconomic aspects section evaluates market growth, key players, re-shoring trends, and infrastructure upgrades, emphasizing the role of eBikes in reshaping transportation dynamics. Microeconomic aspects highlight the economic benefits for citizens, encompassing transportation costs, potential second car replacements, and savings on social costs, particularly in terms of health and physical activity. Environmental impact analysis explores eBikes' contributions to mitigating traffic congestion, reducing CO2 emissions, and enhancing air quality. The study transitions to a detailed examination of Bosch's sustainability strategy, including their commitment to climate neutrality, emission categorization (Scope 1, 2, 3), and the three pillars of eBike Systems. The focus then shifts to Bosch eBike Systems, dissecting its product features, life cycle, and sustainability initiatives. Noteworthy areas of analysis include the eBike footprint, CO2 emissions, critical raw materials transparency, cobalt reduction in battery cells, circular economy practices, and recycling methods for eBike batteries. The discussion section critically evaluates Bosch's marketing strategy and eco-innovation approach, providing insights into their effectiveness and potential areas for improvement. The thesis concludes with comprehensive reflections, drawing on the findings from the analysis, and highlighting the significance of eBikes in fostering sustainable urban mobility. |
