Abstract: |
This thesis will explore the attributes of information systems, with a focus on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, considering their potential as alternatives to conventional business methodologies and structures. A summary assessment of the operational efficiency improvements that such systems offer companies will also be conducted. In particular, the process of replacing business flows within a large automotive company will be analyzed. The first chapter will outline the current state of digital technologies, documenting the undeniable supremacy resulting from their use and delving into their ramifications on the business and socioeconomic environment. In addition, special attention will be paid to the landscape of Italian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The second chapter will analyze new information systems, presenting a classification and delineation of their technological aspects. The third chapter will delve into the nature of ERP systems, their integration methodologies within enterprises and the benefits of their adoption. The fourth chapter delves into Accenture's use of a world-renowned ERP system to improve business processes and, consequently, related revenues. A detailed examination of improvements made to an existing authorization process within a major Italian automotive company will also be provided. Finally, the technical aspects of how the ERP system leverages periodically acquired information to formulate an optimal pricing strategy will be explored. |
