Setup of a Vehicle entertainment Solution and Analysis of Possible Intrusion Techniques.
Rel. Fulvio Giovanni Ottavio Risso. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Informatica (Computer Engineering), 2023
Abstract: |
Information technology has gradually permeated the automotive industry, starting from the first car radio in the 1920, to today’s car, where electronics are used to control almost every aspect of its function. With time, the car has turned from being only a mean of transport, to being a costly IOT device, with new features constantly being integrated, inevitably increasing the surface of attack available. The main target of study is a vehicle-infotainment unit, the thesis describes the process that was required to achieve the following goals: 1. Setting up the infotainment unit on the workbench, starting from having no access to either to the car and the infotainment unit’s unlock code. 2. Analysis and interception of the Bluetooth application-layer communication between two devices by using a relay-based approach. 3. Adapting the Bluetooth relay software to a specific target attack scenario in the automotive context and improving its stealth. |
