Abstract: |
In the last decades a great effort has been done in designing more and more efficient engines with higher performances, in order to cut environmental impact of aeronautical industry. In this perspective, it is crucial to reduce both weight and consumptions by using the most advanced technologies and materials. Yet, this exposes to unavoidable risks such as aeromechanical phenomena and instabilities. ARIAS project's main goal is precisely to deep understand such occurrences with the scope to provide a guideline for future applications and design. This is possible as a result of the cooperation among the major European constructors and universities. This work of thesis, thanks to the opportunity given by Avio Aero, is framed in such context. In particular, this thesis deals with the study of experimental data, which have been collected on a Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) rotor stage, in order to find the best way to extract damping factor and other relevant data among several methods proposed. All the aforementioned methods have formerly been tested on elementary functions and then applied to actual data distribution. Furthermore, a comparison between results obtained both from experimental data and FEA was made. |
