Abstract: |
The following thesis work focuses on the experimental analysis carried out on a 1:5 scale car model. The car model is Losi 5ive T-2.0, while the sensors used are triaxial accelerometers, an IMU, a GNSS antenna and a multi-turn potentiometer. The main goal of the experimentation conducted in the laboratory is to study the dynamics behaviour of the vehicle under analysis. These parameters are the vehicle positioning, velocities, accelerations and steering angle measures. During the first part of the thesis, will be discussed the vehicle set-up. These first chapters describe the vehicle start-up and the positioning of the sensors. The activity continues with the processing of acquired data by accelerometers and GPS connected to a Simcenter SCADAS XS. The accelerometer allows to find data about the car pitch, roll and yaw. The GPS was used to monitor the track during the outdoor tests and data from which the vehicle velocities and accelerations can be retrieved. The Simcenter SCADAS XS allows the acquisition of the data generated by accelerometers and the GPS. All the data post-processing during this phase are conducted in MATLAB . In a second test phase, the vehicle has been equipped with a multi-turn potentiometer, used to measure the steering angle of the vehicle wheels, and an IMU. The thesis comes to conclusions with the evaluation of the vehicle performances. |
