Abstract:

The following thesis deals with BIM methodology implementation in Taormina underground railway station. The thesis is focused on the modelling of the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing equipment (MEP). The main goal of the thesis is to elaborate a model that follows as accurate as possible and finally propose a framework of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) - Building Management Systems (BMS) data conversion method to open JSON database in order to improve the handling and storage of the building data. So, the objective is after modeling the components of elements, try to understand how to make the model available for the interaction with BMS systems. In another word, the main focus of the thesis is to export the model in JSON language to make it available in any kind of platform for facility management. The thesis is divided into different chapters that follow the chronological order of development of the thesis. First, it includes some BIM methodology background, especially focused on the Building Information Modelling (BIM), Facility Management (FM), and integration between these two main platforms and then develops into a real application of this methodology. After a brief introduction, we will focus on the parametric modeling of the case study, and then export the model into the Navisworks for clash detection and finally pass into the Dynamo and try to export it in the JSON format that are linked to the Building Monitoring Systems (BMS). In conclusion, this thesis represents a practical application of the BIM methodology to a real case study.
