Abstract:

Lately, increasing attention has been paid to start-ups and entrepreneurial activities, both sources of economic and social development. It is possible to affirm that, in this environment, incubators play an interesting role, which is supporting and sustaining new entrepreneurial entities. In Italy, incubator landscape has been developed for years, thanks to huge capitals investment. Therefore, it is possible to observe a complex ecosystem of incubators, whose most focused on a specific target of start-ups. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the incubated entities supported by Italian incubators and the goodness of offered services by those incubating systems. The analysis has been carried out in collaboration with Social Innovation Monitor, a research team made by members coming from different universities, and the Italian associations PNICube, InnovUp and . The analysis offers, at first, a complete explanation about incubators history and development, focusing on offered services and on the clustering of the different incubators typologies. Then, it shows a view of the nowadays landscape. At last, the study analyse the incubated entities., highlighting their characteristics. Finally, the analysis focuses on start-ups characterized by social impact.
