Abstract: |
Architectural lights, automotive headlights, public lighting systems. From vehicles to home interiors, from horticulture to sports venues, from public lighting to displays. The applications of LEDs are spread everywhere, so the need to test and validate their specifications, meeting national and international industry standards, is a key point for manufacturers. This discussion aims to give a new alternative about testing LEDs in mass-production contexts, more affordable with respect to the existing ones. FEASA Enterprises Ltd. is actually the only company able to provide LED analysis, in terms of chromaticity and brightness. Since 2002, it’s in first place in testing light emitting diodes with high reliability, in over 50 countries. On the other hand, SPEA S.p.A.is a world’s leading company in testing electronical devices before mass-productions, with customers all over the world. SPEA is the world leading company in offering specialist consultancy for the definition of test strategies, design for testability, design and realization of test applications (test program and fixture). More and more customers interested on optical tests, frequently ask SPEAfor a solution that might be alternative to the FEASA LED Analyzer, either in terms of device cost, test performance, but nonetheless, in test time. This thesis aims to validate the SPEA LCS Light Meter, through a relative comparison with the already mentioned FEASA measuring device. In order to do this comparison, the measurements are taken by two lighting system circuits powered by a famous carmaker. The discussion offers a description of the performed experiments, with a final evaluation and explanation of the obtained results. |
