Abstract:

The Master Thesis work concerns the vehicle dynamics development of an electric quadricycle. The activity is a project proposal aimed to the companies operating in the automotive sector. The focus is on the powertrain, suspensions, steering and braking system. The powertrain components, such as electric motor, inverter and gearbox, will be chosen and purchased from an external supplier. The latter is MAGELEC Propulsion, which is a complete electric powertrain manufacturer operating in the global market. The aim is to ensure certain performances with the limits imposed by the legislation for this category of vehicles. Moreover, it has been defined the main characteristics of the battery such as the type, material and weight in order to ensure a minimum autonomy with not heavy weights. While the choice of the tires is mainly based on their availability on the market. As far as steering and suspension are concerned, they are designed to guarantee certain kinematic and dynamic performances both at the subsystem and the vehicle level. Finally, it was decided to purchase both the solution and the product of the braking system because suppliers can also provide a solution suitable. The supplier will be chosen later. This work is only a fist loop of calculation of the project. Hence, all solutions are preliminary.
