Abstract:

With the recent progresses in the power electronic and computer engineering field, the development of devices able to realise high performances control systems has been carried out. One the main fields where these technologies have been employed is the automotive industry in which manufacturers have started to introduce, alongside to internal combustion engines, an electric drive creating the basis, first for hybrid vehicles and then for full electric vehicles. To face a more demanding market, new development techniques for control softwares have been created with the aim of reducing the time required for algorithm design such as Model-Based Design. This thesis work has been written with the purpose of comparing the performances of a motor control technique developed with two different approaches: the user code C and the Model-Based Design followed by code generation for the target device, a custom board designed by Ideas&Motion s.r.l. These performances have been evaluated with a Hardware-in-the-Loop test, employing a RT Box from Plexim. The thesis work has been first conducted with a review of the literature concerning DC/AC converters and their models as well as AC machines and the state-of-the-start of electric drives control. A particular focus has been dedicated to the employed contro strategy, the Direct Flux Vector Control. In conclusion, results, final consideration and further improvements have been pointed out.
