Abstract:

Automatic Test Equipment Flying Probe for Power Electronic Boards The main goal of the thesis is to validate the changes in the design of a customized Spea tester (4080 Flying Probe), while acquiring the knowledge of the Flying Probe and learning the basis of the test program generation. The standard 4080 Flying Probe is able to test board, which components height are not exceeding 55mm. Otherwise, the probes are not able to go around the extra height areas. Customizations are required to meet the client’s needs, which are: - to test power electronic circuit board with components height that can reach up to 150mm (most of them are capacitors, inductors and transformers); - be able to control the test environment from a remote work station in a safe way (a 3D scanner pre-check station is developed). The customized 4080 Flying Probe needs to be validated both from the mechanical and the software point of view. From the mechanical point of view, the accuracy and repeatability of the system must be verified in order to guarantee the capability of reaching the desired point in the UUT contact surface. Then, the correctness of probe movement around extra height components once verified, validates the changes done to the software. Additionally, the algorithm for detecting the presence of short circuit (STZ) is validated. The process of validation is guided by a Spea software environment, Leonardo 4. Leonardo 4 is responsible for making the automated part of the tester possible, which reduces significantly the work load of the human operator. The software generates automatically the test program from CAD files and guides the operator both during the development and debug phases.
