Abstract:

This work focuses on alternative gaseous fuels (Synthetic Natural Gas and Hydrogen) for natural gas substitution in the industrial sector at a regional level. Different pathways have been analyzed for the production of the above-mentioned alternative fuels. In all pathways involving SNG process that combines high-temperature co-electrolysis in a solid oxide electrolysis cell (supplied with renewable electricity) to a downstream catalytic reactor that upgrades further the electrolysis-derived syngas are investigated. In case of hydrogen only the high-temperature co-electrolysis in a solid oxide electrolysis cell. The results are then compared on regional level.
