Abstract:

INTRODUCTION

With the continuous development of the construction industry, a variety of novel architecture technologies arise, and among those technologies, BIM(Building information modeling) has developed rapidly since the early 2000s. Cause its modeling logic is more targeted at the architectural construction, and the establishment of building models of BIM is based on the information data of various professional, and simulating the digital information of buildings with real information. It has the advantages of visualization, coordination, simulation, optimization and graphability and the combination of family and parameters, so that the collaboration between the various industries in the project and post-modification and statistics can be more convenient and accurate. So that it can play a important role in the life cycle of the entire project. And the Building Information Modeling has been diffused into various regions in recent years, and one of those diffuses is Historical Building Information Modeling(HBIM).

In this paper, a assessment for HBIM will be discussed, through the study and understanding of the HBIM workflow, and apply this process to the actual project practice, to assess its feasibility.

In chapter 1, it is about the introduction of HBIM, started from its origin ,to understand the development of recent years and some bottlenecks in the development process, such as compatibility with the BIM system. And to further understand some of its workflows in recent years, as well as the introduction of the technology with the associated pointcloud technology.

In chapter 2, it is the focus on the modeling workflow of the case study, and the point cloud file of the main case study was provided by the cooperation of Professor Santagati of university of Catania directly, so before doing research on the case study, a test to understand the general workflow of acquiring the point cloud file rely on Structure from Motion (SfM) techniques is necessary. After this, the major work is to investigate the main case study. It will start to collect the information related to the components of this case study, then analysis the geometrical and modular study, after that, reconstructing the those historic object with BIM system and ensure the model could capture those information as sufficiently as possible. Meanwhile, parameterizing the model could make the standard objects abstracted from the case study fit to other

projects with simply modifying some parameters. Those could benefit the establishment of the library of H-BOMS (Historical Building Object Modeling).

In chapter 3, it will assess the quality of HBIM model and make a comparison between HBIM model and the model from other classic technique. And the assessment for the quality of HBIM model will be developed from several aspects. It contains the comparison of point cloud accuracy between the two different acquiring techniques, and the performance of HBIM in the region restoration of decays, and some future assumption about the automatic identifying the historic objects from point cloud automatically with the assistance of H-BOMS library.

In the conclusion, a assessment method for BIM in Italian technical regulations: UNI 11337-4 will be mentioned, and using this system to make an evaluation of the case study, in order to analysis the feasibility of HBIM under the official assessment system.
