Abstract:

This master’s thesis describes the different steps of the conception of an electrical furling sail system which equips some sailboats. First, the project began through the analysis of the previous version of the designed system. Then, the motorization has been at the centre of the study as it is the main component of the system. The mechanical structure has been developed following the selection of the actuator. After having done a first prototype of the system, I had the opportunity to make a porposition in order to improve the system from an electrical and a control point of view. Finally, an adapted test bench has been developed for all the range of furling systems of the company I have been working for.
