Abstract:

The aim of this work is to produce a digital twin for a single head capping machine in order to simulate the system behaviour and to use the simulation to estimate the setting parameters that result in a proper capping operation. The machine is composed by several subsystems. Each subsystem has been modelled individually. Then, a complete model of the machine has been derived using the Simulink environment. Experimental tests have been performed to evaluate the complete model. The comparison with the experimental tests shows that the simulation results are affected by low error in the estimate of the kinematic parameters. However, the simulation also shows a different behaviour for specific parameters. It has been found that it is possible to tune the model to correct these phenomena by acting on the parameters that cause it. The resulting model can be used to simulate the actual machine but a tuning operation it is required. It is expected that, by study the causes that require the model tuning, it will be possible to simulate the actual machine without any calibration.
