Stress Realaxation Optimization of Turbine Sealing Rings.

Rel. Antonio Mittica. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Mechatronic Engineering (Ingegneria Meccatronica), 2018

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis project is to examine the influence of material selection and geometry on the relaxation behavior of turbine piston rings. This is done in order to develop a model that links the piston ring properties to engine operational parameters. The project includes experimental testing, selection of materials and heat treatment processes. In addition, it also includes evaluation of engine operational parameters and their effect on the piston ring temperature.
