Abstract:

ABSTRACT

Sustainability is one of the main topics nowadays, especially on policies of energy saving. This happens because we have been accustomed to a continuous industrial transformation that has led us to a better way of life but with drastic consequences for the environment.

In fact, sustainability can be read as the ability to sustain/support:

"Development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".

The topic of this master's thesis is a part of the European District Information Modeling For Energy Reduction (DIMMER) Project, which started on 1st October 2013 and continued for three years. It aimed to reduce the energy consumptions of the existing buildings by integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) Models with real-time data and their extension at the district level District Information Modeling (DIM) creating an accessible platform of information using Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in order to choose the best way of intervention that guarantee energy saving, decrease of CO2 quantifying the cost of the investment.
