Abstract:

Wide bandgap power semiconductors in electric motor drives: Design and test of an inverter with a wide bandgap semiconductors (GaN - Gallium Nitrite) dedicated for BLDC (Brushless) motors control in a high-performance drone with overall power of around 1kW. the system consists of a single board with an inverter and a microcontroller by Infineon, where is implemented a FOC (field controlled orientated) algorithm for the digital control. This PCB needs to achieve high performance in terms of efficiency, also less weight and mass of the state of the art inverters for drones.
