Abstract: |
This thesis is about an Oncological Hospital in Podgorica, Montenegro. As the first hospital specializing in cancer treatment, it was crutial to provide a complete service to patients. The hospital is the only oncological center for the entire country. Taking in the consideration, the importantance of such a building, it was very important to be respectful to the environment at the same time. By paying attention to both built and natural environment. The hopsital is a part of a bigger Clinical Center located on the riverbanks. By focusing on innovative contruction methods such as modular building and circular economy in architecture, this project is an attempt to built a sustainable hospital. Ensuring the future reuse of materials is a expresion of being aware that building have a lifetime, especially healthcare institution that demand constant upgrading and modifying. Not only can a modular construction be easily adapted to alternating needs, it can be completely relocated, dismanted and reused according to the needs. By circulating the materials, we are making sure to value the resources consumed. The consumption in this case is not singular, but it is to be repetead as long as the materials permit. As the principles of circular economy suggest, using a bit more is a way of investing in the future. Deciding to use more materials, both more expensive and higher quality, is a guarantee that leaves more possibilities of later handling. Building for healthcare by ensuring the Earth is taken care of, is a way of ensuring this generation leaves the world a bit better for the future ones to come. Not necessarily better, but creating space and possibilites for the coming habitants. The overall experience in some hospitals in inadequate in terms of delivering the comfort to the users. The purpose of this master thesis is to examine the effect of an architectural design that puts user and the environment in the focus, without compromising any one, respectfully. It is the application of the concept of sustainable design and an enjoyable hospital. The goal is to be reched is a hospotial designed for overall wellbeing of the patients, with minimal consequences on the environment, while practising a sustainable approach to construction. colare attenzione all'umanizzazione degli spazi |
