Abstract:

Vital signs monitoring is an essential part of preserving the healthy conditions of a patient. Recent years, advances in technology have allowed many applications to be created for real-time health monitoring. With this goal, multiple applications provide the connection of embedded systems to integrated platforms, inside of which singular devices communicate autonomously according to the paradigm known as IoT (Internet of Things). Through the help of sensors of embedded systems and Internet of Things, doctors can be more precise and can perform monitoring through wireless connection and the use of wearable devices. In this thesis, it is presented a sub network of wearable embedded sensors able to monitor vital signs of patients in real time. This approach expects the presence of a wearable Hub and WiFi devices for the collection of the data. This thesis describes a communication protocol responsible of the communication between the wearable Hub and the WiFi devices. Moreover, this document presents the necessary capabilities of the Hub, a power saving strategy and the capabilities of the WiFi nodes.
