Abstract:

This study aims to demonstrate the benefits of the “Lean Initiative Management” in the contest of “Industry 4.0”. The project that the study uses is a “New to the world” Collaborative Robot implementation in a Filling - Packing production line in a site of Procter & Gamble. In this thesis I will break down each phase of the project (Feasibility, Development, Design and Construction, Startup) remarking how the concept of the “Lean approach” can be adapted to deliver technologically challenging innovation and how a collaborative robot should be implemented into production aiming to improve the end-to-end synchronization of the supply chain. The study will show that technical solutions as vision systems, machine communication, force-adaptive movements are key factors to deliver a “touch-less” process.
