Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is the assessment of the environmental impact, in terms of CO2 Metric Value, for the conceptual design of a supersonic business jet. It stands as one of the starting points for adapting subsonic regulations for future supersonic aircrafts. The introductory chapter provides an overview of supersonic civil transport challenges, narrowing the focus to supersonic business jet, while the second chapter introduces the specific case study. Chapter 3 details the research methodology, and consists of an aerodynamic analysis, a mission simulation and the assessment of the CO2 Metric Value, while chapter 4 presents the results for each of the previously mentioned sections. The concluding chapter summarises the results, and lays the foundation for potential future research works.
