THE SEISMIC VULNERABILITY OF EXISTING REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES.

Rel. Alessandro Pasquale Fantilli. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Civile, 2023

Abstract:

The seismic vulnerability of concrete structures in Italy has been a subject of paramount importance, considering the country's exposure to significant seismic activity. This thesis aims to address this critical issue by conducting a comprehensive assessment of the seismic vulnerability of concrete structures .The research begins by reviewing the seismic hazard and historical earthquake data in Italy, establishing the significance of addressing seismic vulnerability in the region. It then delves into the principles of seismic vulnerability assessment, including structural analysis, material properties, and construction techniques. To validate the developed framework, a case study in Turin is conducted, the results of the case study provide valuable insights into the seismic vulnerability of concrete structures
