A new tool for the full digital flow.

Rel. Maurizio Martina. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Elettronica (Electronic Engineering), 2023

Abstract:

The full digital flow is a process that uses the digital design tools and methodologies to achieve the final netlist, or GDSII file, to be sent to manufacturing processes. The paper provides first an overview of the Full Digital Flow describing each step from synthesis to Place and Route. Then the migration process from Cadence flow (Genus+Innovus) to Synopsys flow (Fusion Compiler) is explored. The paper discusses the challenges related to the migration and how these challenges have been overcame. At the end an example of a successful tool migration is provided comparing the results of the new tool versus the reference one. The use of the new tool resulted in a improved efficiency in several aspects of the flow, from run-time to power and other aspects.digital flow
