Abstract:

This work provides the analysis of an innovative solar hybrid air cooling technology involving a thermal refrigeration cycle based on adsorption. The operation is based on a silica gel coating on the heat exchangers which adsorbs and releases water periodically by interacting with air. The adsorption and regeneration cycles alternate periodically dehumidifying the air while a heat source is required in order to regenerate the desiccant. The numerical model is solved in python in order to simulate the performance of the device in different circumstances and set its operational conditions. The aim of the work is to demonstrate the feasibility of the device, show its performance and adaptability in different conditions, environments and configurations.
