Abstract:

This Thesis is developed within the SIU context: it consists of a strategic partnership involving 33 entities from both the research and industrial sectors, among which Politecnico di Torino, ALTEC, Leonardo, Thales Alenia Space, INFN and more. The purpose of this consortium is to boost Italian space technology for the exploration and exploitation of space, generating concrete benefits for the planet and humanity. In particular, this Thesis work is conducted within the context of Spoke 8: Robotic and Human exploration of extraterrestrial habitats, architectures and infrastructures. In particular, this Thesis consists into the definition of a permanent Lunar Habitat system, starting from the considerations about the operative Lunar environment and continuing with the satisfaction of the stakeholders espectations, that will be identified with a preliminary Stakeholders analysis. The system design process is performed following the MBSE's ARCADIA methodology, which permits to derive a functional structure of the habitat. In addition, this functional design is integrated with Operational concepts developed in collaboration with ALTEC, allowing to obtain a system design integrated and compatible with operational aspects. This transverse modeling, as will be called, is fundamental to ensure the effectiveness of the operations, allowing to save time and money, and to reach mission objectives pursuing more exploration and research activities. Finally, a functional architecture of the Lunar Habitat is achieved, as well as the definition of high level ConOps and system's Operative Modes, which together provide an integrated model whose traceability of each element allows to perform more specific and complete evaluations about system effectiveness, operational sustainability and satisfaction of stakeholders expectations.
