ERP implementation at Ferrero Ingegneria: As Is – To Be Analysis of the Feasibility Study process.

Rel. Riccardo Coppola. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Gestionale (Engineering And Management), 2025

Abstract:

This thesis analyses the introduction of a new ERP system (SAP PPM) for the management of the Feasibility Study (FS) process within Ferrero Ingegneria. The study was conducted six months after the system go-live, in order to evaluate the main organisational and operational effects compared to the previous model. The objective of the project was to create an integrated and standardised environment able to support users, reduce manual work, and improve the traceability of the process. The methodology followed an "As Is – To Be" approach, combining observation of daily operations, analysis of system data, and user feedback through surveys and interviews. The results show a clear increase in the number of feasibility requests managed, a reduction in the time needed for processing, and a shorter overall cycle of the process. From a qualitative perspective, users expressed a good level of satisfaction, highlighting the greater clarity of the workflow, the reduction of manual tasks, and the improved collaboration between roles. At the same time, some difficulties emerged during the learning phase, especially for those more related to the old way of working. The adoption of the new ERP System has made the Feasibility Study process more efficient, transparent and structured. The case study confirms that the introduction of ERP systems, if supported by adequate training and change management, can generate benefits both in operational performance and in organisational practices, while also improving user experience.
