Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the study of vehicle passengers comfort (driver and left rear passenger), and in particular the response of the human-seat subsystem to vibrations from the road. The work began with the analysis of a complete vehicle model on a mod of MSC AdamsCar software, called MB-SHARC developed by Stellantis. Numerical simulation results obtained through this software were compared with experimental data provided by the Balocco Proving Ground. The proposed tests to study the vibrational response of the system are of three types: obstacle, comfort track and high speed track. Also the signal analysis was carried out through a software developed in Stellantis named VDArco. The purpose of this thesis is to validate a new human-seat model on a different car model than the one in which it was introduced. During the tests performed, the values referring to the seat were refined, in particular most of the attention was directed in the modification and redefinition of the stiffness and damping of the Maxwell Unit. Actions were also taken regarding the value of stiffness and damping related to the passenger such as in the case of the stiffness related to the upper part where it was necessary to modify the nomenclature to make it consistent with the results obtained. Thanks to the modifications made and an optimization process according to trial and error methodology, it was possible to obtain the desired results in all tracks for both the driver and the rear passenger.
