Abstract: |
Large multinational automotive companies must deliver high-quality products to the customer to remain competitive in the market while reducing costs. Standardizing business processes and sharing best practices across global sites is a crucial step towards this goal. However, sustaining these standards requires a robust governance system. The first part of the thesis describes an overview of the automotive world, car makers, and the requirements a company must meet to be a Tier-1 supplier. The second chapter analyzed the case study of Valeo, an automotive company where I had the opportunity to complete an internship; this part describes the Valeo Production System, a comprehensive methodology for improving the efficiency, quality and flexibility of production processes through the use of standards and KPI monitoring. The final part of this paper focuses on two VPS tools: the application of the 5S standards and the Total Productive Maintenance method. These chapters also describe the methodologies and report application cases. |
