The following thesis has the objective of analyzing the internationalization decisions firms taken in the Tyre Industry using theorical frameworks to understand how firms decide to pursue a Foreign Investment Strategy on a particular location. It entails how global consolidation could be related to the characteristics of the market, in this case, of the oligopolistic nature of it. The objective is to understand the strongest factors behind these strategies of FDI. Is the reason why Tyre firms decide to have production plants all over the world, merely because they are seeking cost reduction in inputs such as labor and raw materials which host-country could provide? Is it because they are saving on transportation costs and they want to target the host-countries market? Or could it be just because of the opportunity to grow and introduce themselves into the global economy, taking advantage of internationalization effects by M&A?
