Abstract:

Evidence from ItaliaDeveloping the research question and the hypotheses or research directions The Social Innovation Monitor (SIM) Researchers at Politecnico di Torino have curated a large and unique dataset that allows for the conduct of quantitative analysis relating to the services offered by Incubators and Accelerators and the financial metrics of the startups they support. The research aims to explore a variety of questions, including but not limited to: The distribution of organizations based on various factors such as geographic location, age since inception, type, nature, interaction with startups, investment preferences, and investment strategies. The correlation between the characteristics of the organizations and their "success," as defined by literature review or by the researchers, based on the financial metrics of portfolio companies. If no correlation is found, the researchers will propose a method for reapproaching the analysis with additional data that may become available in the future. Defining research methods The analysis in this study utilized a dataset consisting of two years of survey data collected from over 200 Italian organizations. The survey included both qualitative and quantitative questions pertaining to the organizations' incubation and acceleration programs. In some cases, the list of portfolio companies was also made available. The financial metrics of the portfolio companies were extracted using the AIDA tool. The data was analyzed using multilinear regression, with over 16 independent variables and the dependent variables serving as proxies for performance.n Incubators and Accelerators in 2020: Analyisis of Services and Their Impacts
