Abstract:

Logitech is renowned for its high-quality computer peripherals enhancing productivity and gaming performances. To continue this quest of bringing highly instinctive HMI to the market, the company is exploring the potential of vibrotactile haptic feedback. This thesis aims to make a comprehensive state of the art of haptic interfaces that can be used to improve user experience (UX) with a focus on vibrotactile feedback, propose innovative concepts of haptic experience and compare them, choose, prototype and test the most promising concepts, and propose them to users to gather feedback for improvement. The deliverables include an exhaustive state of the art, a list of possible implementations of vibrotactile haptic feedback, functional prototypes of Logitech products augmented through vibrotactile feedback, and guidelines for future developments.
