Abstract:

Industry 4.0 is today’s reality, and with improvements and a shift towards Industry 5.0, it will be the main character of the future. This study aims to implement a new way to perform quality assurance in production processes by introducing it into the Manufacturing Execution Systems, that support SMEs and large enterprises in an I4.0 and I5.0 perspective. To achieve this innovative feature, the study has firstly explained what a MES is, and faced the evolution of the industrial revolutions with a deep focus on Industry 4.0 and 5.0 and their differences. A presentation of Orchestra company and its brand RETUNER has been done, highlighting its architecture and the importance of quality, its benefits, and the best techniques to improve it. The heart of the study was analyzing the existing theoretical guidelines to perform QA, based on statistical calculations, and apply them to a real case study, with the objective to digitize quality control with traditional methods, machines or AR support, trying to anticipate eventual errors and process drifts. The theory has been translated into an algorithm, e.g., an Out-of-Control Action Plan, to accelerate, ease and guide the process; the algorithms will be improved with future implementations.
