Abstract:

This thesis explores the intersection of blockchain-based ecosystems, game design, and procedural deck generation algorithms in the context of play-to-earn card games. With the rise of blockchain technology and the advent of play-to-earn models, Card games have evolved into dynamic ecosystems where players can not only engage in gameplay but also earn real-world value. The first chapter focuses on the design aspects of blockchain-based ecosystems specifically for Dawnshard, a unique deck Card Game. It delves into the core principles of creating an immersive and rewarding player experience. Various factors such as game mechanics and balance are examined to ensure an engaging environment for players. The second chapter dives into the procedural deck generation algorithm. This algorithm is crucial in creating a fair and balanced gameplay experience, where each player can access unique and strategically viable decks. The algorithm takes into account various parameters, such as synergies between cards, card rarities and parametric components. The third chapter explores the game economy within the play-to-earn ecosystem. It investigates how blockchain technology enables the creation of valuable in-game assets, such as NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and how these assets can be earned, traded, and utilized within the game. The chapter also discusses the concept of "earning while playing" highlighting the potential for players to earn real-world value through their in-game activities.
