Abstract:

In the present days people are used to solve their problems searching on the Internet. With only the use of a Browser on a PC or a mobile they can access to various services for their daily life needs, like social networks, streaming sites or e-commerce sites. The use of Desktop Applications is declining and be restricted to only to some sectors, like gaming, online meeting and editing. Any other need can be solved with just a Browser. Another problem is that Desktop Applications requires more attention from the user. Installation and updating must be done by the user. This thesis will show how the new Web Application is structured and each component that has been used for its creation. The application in exam is an online catalog for products in the building industry, where producers from any company can add or modify products. This catalog is managed from Edilclima S.r.l., a company that offers different type of software all in the built environment scope (e.g. thermotechnics, acoustic and firefighting), IT and technical assistance and also training courses. This thesis project will explain how the old and new application are structured, what will change in the web based application and will explore in details all the application with its use and development. The type of users and each workflow that can be created from them. Lastly there is a part dedicated to the functional testing, why it's important to test, which architectures are used in this environment, what kind of tests are done on this application and what I could gain from the results.
