Abstract:

The aim of this research is to investigate the state of the art of artificial intelligence methodologies applied to project risk management and to analyse how AI systems can help increasing the efficiency of project managers. The first chapters introduce the theory of the problem and are composed of a discussion on project management, risk management and artificial intelligence. Afterwards, the methodology used has been explained. The study is conducted starting from the publications that investigated the application of AI to RM which were selected, categorized and reported. For this purpose, a systematic review is used to identify, summarize and analyse the findings of all relevant individual studies collected through inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results section provides outputs of the literature search and the following discussion section describes the current level of AI applications to RM. The reasearch questions include the current debate in the literature and the main AI tools used. Moreover, the analysis of challenges faced by project managers and corporates and their future directions in implementing artificial intelligence to change risk management practice.
