Abstract:

The object of study of this thesis work is the analysis of the training project of the course of study in Management Engineering of the Master of Science of the Polytechnic of Turin, evaluating any changes or additions to new subjects in the teaching plan. The study starts with a comparison of the study plan of other Italian universities such as the Polytechnic of Milan, the Polytechnic of Bari, the University of Bologna, and the University of Parma. Subsequently, the thesis work sees the performance of a data analysis carried out on two databases of the Polytechnic of Turin: the database of internship training projects initiated in the master's degree course in management engineering in the years 2019-beginning of 2022 and the one on thesis work carried out in the aforementioned course of study. For this analysis, Microsoft Excel was used to create pivot tables, and Power BI software for creating charts. The purpose of the analysis will be to assess in which sectors there is greater demand for curricular internships and also to observe over time how the demand has evolved in the various company areas. Specifically, we went to deepen what a trainee student does (what are his duties and responsibilities) in the two sectors most involved in internship requests. Subsequently, the database of the thesis works was analyzed to understand in which subjects there is greater demand for thesis development and finally, after all this, new courses will be proposed if necessary to ensure that the Polytechnic of Turin can increase the quality of the course. This can be seen as a growth tool for the future of the University which must be involved in the professional training of the next Italian and foreign Management Engineers (in the case of Erasmus students).
