IoT Architecture for Performance Monitoring on Automotive ECUs.
Rel. Claudio Ettore Casetti. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Mechatronic Engineering (Ingegneria Meccatronica), 2022
Abstract: |
The present thesis has been developed during my experience at Italdesign Giugiaro S.P.A company. The results have been achieved by considering current vehicles are experiencing an evolution from a pure mechanical system to a very complex mechatronic one, where several technologies coexist making difficult their engineering and integration in the car itself. At Italdesign a great effort is currently put on the development of a connected infotainment system, which enables the car to establish connection outside its domain and increasing the available functionalities. Actually, I had the possibility to solve a real open problem by developing a performance control tool that is able to monitor the stability of the Electronic Control Units (ECUs) present inside the car (in terms of CPU and RAM Usage) by using IoT technologies. In particular, by setting a high-level architecture and then choosing the right technologies it has been possible to achieve the objective requirements. Finally, a fully customizable Grafical User Interface (GUI) has been developed in order to gain a better understanding of the system behaviour under different conditions, particularly when testing of the available functionalities on the ECUs can be difficult. |
