Abstract: |
Manufacturing Execution System (MES) plays an important role for a company’s daily production operations, especially for the unexpected events and demands presented in On-of-a-Kind Production (OKP). This work study presents a MES using the software provided by OCTAVIC in a OKP company that manufactures body components and assemblies for prototypes and small series. The program enables real-time collection and real-time scheduling. To ensure the program provides as precise a production schedule as possible, the production processes are parametrized, and their duration calculated using the Material Removal Rate (MRR) of the milling machines for each process. In addition, to provide the program with all the necessary information in a more convenient way for the company’s personnel, a tool using Visual Basic (Excel Macro), and MySQL is developed. The improvement proposal using OCTAVIC’s program reveals an improvement in both tests performed, the one considering the machines chosen by the company and other with the machines proposed by the program without any additional intervention. Being the second one with more relevant outcome, especially for the delivery time KPI, which is the best comparing with the first test and the company’s real performance. |
