Abstract:

The thesis development focuses on the requalification of one of the most important streets in the historic center of Caracas. This area has lost its historical and cultural importance due to issues related to the political and economic crisis that Venezuela is going through, which at the same time, it has also led to a social and cultural setback. The idea is to regenerate the passage through the promotion of the local gastronomic culture. The improvement occurs through the enhancement of the existing urban infrastructure, the re-qualification of the existing food-related businesses, and the proposal of different modules placed in the residual areas along the street.  In the principal area -currently, an abandoned plot that is used as an informal parking lot-, a cultural building is developed where the different needs of the community converge for the progress of Venezuelan gastronomy (a culinary institute, a native food fair, an area for the development of urban farming and different places for the present evolution of our culinary culture). In the end, the integration of every action provides the area with a cultural culinary passage.
