Abstract:

The present work was developed in the production area of the company Sirena Signaling Devices, located in Rosta, Italy, and consists of the implementation of different Lean Manufacturing tools. The Lean Manufacturing philosophy, also known as Lean Production, is a work organization system that focuses on improving the production system. It aims to minimize waste and maximize the value added to the customer. It is a system that was born in the automotive industry and exported to all types of companies, its main exponent is the Toyota automobile company, where the philosophy was created. An analysis of the processes of Sirena SPA. was carried out and improvement gaps were sought where the concepts of the aforementioned philosophy can be applicable, some of these concepts are 5S, JIT, Kanban, Layout, among others, which will be explained later. The mentioned tools will seek to improve, organize, implement, and standardize the work inside the factory, as well as to identify a set of problems and solve those stages of the process that produce delays and delays, which are opportunities that can be used to improve and increase efficiency in the production process of sirens and beacons. For this, I started from the most general, looking at the process of the products as a whole, and then focused on more specific aspects. I sought to find problems for the most general needs in the first place, such as the layout of the factory workstations, to then go into more specific details. From the initial diagnosis, a set of improvements was developed to try to eliminate those problems that generate delays, wasted time and low productivity, and achieve the goal of producing more efficiently, making better use of available resources. Throughout this process I worked directly with the production manager of the company, and sought to obtain information from different sources, such as data measurements through tablets, consultations with workers and analysis of processes, in order to obtain accurate and objective information for the fulfillment of the proposed improvement. After the initial evaluation, it is shown how the implementation of some of the Lean Manufacturing tools was carried out, then some numerical results used by the company to evaluate these changes are shown, as well as data that allow to continue looking for improvement gaps to make changes that impact in a positive way.
