Abstract: |
One of the most significant challenges that the human race will have to overcome in this century is the production and distribution of food. Food production, harvesting, and transportation now cause considerable amounts of air and land pollution. Food insecurity has reached crisis proportions in certain areas of the world as a result of conflict, poverty, and the displacement of entire populations as a result of climate change. In the age of Big Data and altering cultural trends, architects everywhere must respond to the desire for improved design solutions when it comes to agriculture, technology, and architecture. While we may not be colonizing other planets or building robotic flying automobiles, the architectural industry must solve a few difficulties, particularly when it comes to integrating the aeroponics system into architecture. The thesis is divided into three chapters. It starts with a general overview about the impact of climate change and the negative cycle on agriculture, food and water usage, indoor farming, and sustainable goals and developments. The second chapter is the theoretical approach and methodology which analyzes the application in Agricooltur “startup company” the existing components, data records, and existing problems of the integration of aeroponics, and an example of the current integration of aeroponic systems into architecture, the third chapter is applying all the data and knowledge collected from the research and transforming an aeroponic concept into a reality and into architectural projects, firstly “Triennale Di Milano” a rooftop aeroponics integration, “Forrest In Town” underground indoor farming And “aeroponics containers” for both indoor and outdoor use, as well as enhancing and updating an existing aeroponics system. All these proposal attempts to address future food production issues by decreasing pollution, inefficient transportation, water loss, and land ecosystem damage. |
