Abstract:

The thesis work was carried out at the EP department of Michelin Italiana, which, following the company policy based on 3Ps (Profit, Planet, People), decided to adopt an environmental and prevention management system, also for the Milan Commercial Headquarter, with the main purpose of obtaining the ISO 45001 certification. The work carried out, on the occasion of the thesis, consisted in the creation of the main structure of the system including the manual, the procedure of the processes implemented and the related indicators to ensure the monitoring of the system performances, and the most important instructions that are fundamental to guarantee the functioning of the SMEP system. In the current situation, an adequate system has been defined which is starting to plan the first actions in order to achieve the continuous improvement objective of the ISO 45001 standard; this will be done during the next meeting of the management team. The first objectives that the system will set itself, in addition to the objectives defined with respect to the process indicators, will be organized in the EP annual plan and they will be divided into simpler actions with the aim of implementing new mechanisms, consistent with the indications of the ISO 45001 standard, with respect to the management of worker’s safety training, to the management of health surveillance of employees and the correct treatment of EP anomalies. Furthermore, during the management team review of the SMEP system, improvement actions were agreed from an environmental point of view such as an assessment of the environmental impact focused on the commercial headquarter activities, and the application of the 4R principles (Reuse, Recycle, Renew, Reduce) proposed by the Group strategy. In conclusion, given that the Milan sales department is one of the first headquarters to adopt the SMEP system, in the future it would be interesting to carry out an analysis of the application of the system to this context, comparing it with other commercial headquarter that will implement the systema but also to the industrial environment where the system has already been applied for a long time.
