Abstract: |
Amazon Web Services (AWS) allows users to access to Cloud services and to exploit those functionalities using graphical console interfaces. In this thesis we will go through all the steps required to launch a new version of the console for a service and we will analyse how it is possible to gather insights on the interactions that customers have with the products, via business analytics. More in details, after an analysis of the tools available and the ones chosen, the whole process of ideation, design and development is considered from a software engineering point of view. Details on the implementation of event retrieval and on the structure of the coding for the front-end console will be explored, with conclusions on the real data collected. In this work we will then comment the improvements done to scale the AWS Console Analytics implementation, adding business analytics to the new Elasticache service version from launch. As this work introduced new metrics to the team, this is a starting point that will be further developed in future, with new metrics monitored and full coverage on the flows. However, it was extremely useful to grasp the whole development process in both the introduction of new features and the deployment of a bigger project, where collaboration between multiple engineers is required. |
