Abstract:

As the climate crisis becomes more and more of an urgent issue, and being the transportation industry one of the main actors in this scenario, a revolution of this sector has become a priority. Hyperloop looks in this direction, working towards a 100% zero-emission technology, a magnetic levitation train, which is not only environmentally sustainable but also highly functional, being able to reach significant speeds (about 1000-1200 km/h). Unfortunately, this technology is still far from being put on the market, as researches and tests are still being run to ensure the stability of the electrodynamic system. The Politecnico di Torino, along with Hyperloop Transportation Systems itself, is working on this topic, designing, building and testing a test bench that re-enacts the electrodynamic behavior of a Hyperloop levitation system, in order to verify its stability. The purpose of this thesis work consists in delineating every step of the design process of the bench, starting from a literature analysis whose aim is to explain some of the design choiches made, then describing the two final systems designed, the system designed to run the quasi-static analysis and the one designed to run the dynamic analysis. It will also cover the topic of the drafting of every piece of the systems, with every drawing being sent to the workshop for manufacturing, followed by the analysis of the results given by the virtual tests to which the systems were subjected before getting the pieces into production.
