Implementation of ECMS for a hybrid taxi boat.

Rel. Daniela Anna Misul. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Meccanica (Mechanical Engineering), 2021

Abstract:

This thesis work aims to model a recreational boat equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, composed by an endothermic diesel marine engine and a three-phase synchronous electric motor. The work was carried out at the company C.M.D: spa in the Atella (PZ) site which has designed and built this new kind of propulsion and through the “ECO 850 hybrid” hull of the Ecoline Marine shipyard in Sarnico (BG). After an initial explanation on the principles that guide marine propulsion and the kinematic chain that is the basis of the model, we will move on to its description through its components and to the description of the driving cycle used. The central point of the thesis is based on analyzing the problem of controlling the hybrid boat and implementing an optimization strategy aimed at saving fuel consumption and managing the state of the battery, of ECMS and A-ECMS. After a small theoretical part of this, the results obtained are shown and are commented to see if they respect the set objectives. For the algorithm’s development of the model and numerical calculation of the various simulations is used the software Matlab.
