Abstract:

"Experimental and numerical study on the mechanical properties of adhesive joints under impact loads using LS-DYNA." Due to the outstanding advantages, adhesive joints are widely used in engineering applications. Although they are adopted in many applications that are involved in crash and impact events, a procedure universally adopted to test the adhesive joints in dynamic conditions has not been standardized or validated. The main aim of this work is to develop a model and a methodology that can assess the behaviour of the adhesive joints under impact loading and to validate it through experimental tests. The activity will be carried out on composite substrates bonded with an adhesive used in the automotive industry by using LS-Dyna.
