Abstract:

Performance analysis improvements of Plastic and Rubber Production Process in Industry 4.0 environment Abstract With the fast development of the internet and the Internet of Things (IoT), the industries have rapidly welcomed the development of technology and they have been moving toward industrial automation, aiming to the reduction of costs and more importantly saving the environmental resources. The I 4.0 emerged to help the industrial factories to automate and facilitate their production process and embrace the new technology and address the issues of reducing the costs, saving environmental resources and eventually increasing competitiveness and productivity. Many countries now and many industries welcomed the I 4.0. framework. Moving toward industrial automation brings many benefits to the companies and will open the door for the companies to many opportunities to better improve their efficiency and to better appear in the job market. Besides the opportunity to monitor the production process and translate it to a raw data are possible with Industry 4.0 framework. Having said so, many concepts will take the floor, for instance, data modeling and data analysis, business intelligence applications and eventually machine learning predictive maintenance algorithms to overcome future issues. To illustrate the point, we analyzed an industrial automation project called Plastic and Rubber 4.0, which aims at automating the production process of Plastic and Rubber Factory in Piemonte province of Italy which was moved to the latest factory production framework known as Industry 4.0 by the development team of Polimatica Srl Group and some other partners. Having done the real-time transformation of the data coming from the production process to the cloud storage, structuring the data for a better analysis, many functionalities became available such as better modeling the factory production, better analyzing the efficiency of the production process and eventually better future scheduling of the production. Data on the production process stored in a non-relational database and the aim is not only to organize them as to become human-readable to be ready for building a Data Warehouse for the factory but also analyzing closely the data of the production process of factory hardware with proper tools to move companies forward to another step to analyze their involvement and presence in the market. Consequently, Bussiness Intelligence Application finds a place in the companies to better monitor the production process. Plastic and Rubber 4.0 project is a crystal-clear example of industrial automation and how technology can affect the production process of factories and eventually how to take proper action to address issues. In the Open Platform in P&R 4.0 project, how to transfer the unstructured data to human-readable data, how to do modeling of the data in cloud-based unstructured storage, and how to do ETL procedure in DWH are addressed, and the result that can benefit the company from different aspects such as the efficiency and performance of the production process which have been a key factor to every factory owner in the industrial sector.
